Scones on a log

Scones on a log

On Saturday, Hank and I visited the Tate Modern and see the Kandinsky exhibit before it goes away at the end of the month – it was really outstanding. The Tate puts together such good overall perspectives of the evolution of an artist’s works.
Since the weather has been so nice lately, we just wandered around to an outdoor fair outside the Tate, along the riverside, and wound up at the Borough Market. It was an outdoor market unlike anything I’ve *ever* experienced! There were dozens and dozens of vendors with everything from honey, candies, tarts, locally made ice cream, meats (tons of pork, hams, sausages, bacon…. drool!), cheeses, fresh veggies, fruit, herbs, spices – you name it. We spent a good 2 hours browsing around and picking up a few goodies for dinner that night; I bought some amazing Caerphilly Welsh cheese that is now one of my all-time favourites. The place was a complete zoo – packed with people on such a nice afternoon, but I’m definitely going back again. And I now know where I can purchase cans of goose fat… you know, just for one of those times you really need goose fat.
Yesterday (Sunday), my ankle that I sprained a week ago decided that Sunday should be a day of rest, so I mostly did that except for a quick outing to the Kensington Palace Orangery for “tea”. I can’t say we did a proper tea because neither of us ordered tea. But I did have a scone and some lemonade while we sat outside on the patio overlooking a lovely garden with crazy squirrels.
Hank has started work today, so I can now keep a close eye on him, rather than allowing him to wander through the pubs, record shops and cigar bars of Londontown.

This all sounds idyllic. I know I'd end up buying too many pork products and feeding scones to the squirrels. However, I would not turn down a wander through the pubs and record shops!
