Kitchen Inauguration
This past weekend I officially "broke in" the kitchen by making a batch of chocolate chip cookies. The chocolate chips were imported with us in our luggage from CA since the only version of chocolate chips I can find o'er here come in tiny, tiny bags. (Yes, I could pick up a couple of bars of nice chocolate and chop them myself, but that's hardly the point.)
The oven baked *wonderfully* - I may not be able to survive without a convection oven when I get home!! I also got to use the hand mixer my very kind little brother bought me while he was in Germany (flown from Germany to Illinois, shipped to California, then flown from CA to London, and boy are its beaters tired... ba dum ching!).
Hank said the cookies tasted better than normal - I'll bet it was that lovely English butter made by a country not afraid of dairy! Free the cows, people! It's the only way to bake!
